Reversi starts with four discs in the center. Place a disc so it traps opponent pieces between your new disc and another of yours in a straight line; trapped discs flip to your color.
The game ends when neither player can move; whoever has more discs wins.
How to play Reversi
- Black and white alternate. You must play if a legal flip exists.
- A legal move traps at least one opponent disc between your new disc and an existing disc, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
- All trapped discs flip to your color.
- If you cannot move, your turn passes. Game ends when both pass or the board fills.
Strategy tips
- Corners never flip — a corner disc is permanent once taken.
- Avoid playing adjacent to corners early unless you can take the corner next turn.
- Edges are safer than interior cells but still vulnerable to long lines.
- Minimize discs in the opening; fewer discs often means more mobility midgame.
- Force your opponent into a move that gives you a corner — that swing wins many casual games.
