Drop discs into a seven-column, six-row grid. Gravity fills the lowest empty slot in a column. First to connect four horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins.
You play against the computer. Think one row above your win — block before you build.
How to play Connect Four
- Click a column to drop your disc in the lowest empty cell.
- Players alternate turns.
- Four in a row in any direction wins.
- Full columns reject new discs — pick another column.
Strategy tips
- Control the center columns — they participate in more winning lines.
- Create two threats at once (forks) when you can — the CPU picks randomly among legal columns, not perfect defense.
- Block an opponent three-in-a-row immediately — the fourth is often unstoppable above.
- Watch diagonal lines through the middle; they are easier to miss than horizontals.
- If the top row fills without a winner, the game is a draw — rare but possible.
Common questions
Does the computer play optimally?
It picks a random legal column — good for casual play, not perfect endgame defense.
