One-suit Spider is the training wheels version of Spider: every card shares the same suit, so any descending stack can move as a unit and king-to-ace clears are straightforward.
Use it to learn dealing rhythm, empty-column timing, and stock management before moving to two-suit or four-suit Spider.
How to play Spider Solitaire 1 Suit
- Ten columns, two decks, single suit — build down by rank on the tableau.
- Because all cards share one suit, any face-up descending run may move together (not just in-suit runs — there is only one suit).
- Clear eight king-through-ace runs to win.
- Stock deals one card per column when no column is empty.
Strategy tips
- Focus on empty columns: even in one-suit Spider, buried face-down cards dictate pace.
- Do not deal from stock if you still have easy face-down flips available in the tableau.
- Long runs are fine to move — there is no off-suit penalty, so consolidate columns aggressively.
- Try to keep at least one column empty before each stock deal so new cards have somewhere useful to land.
- When comfortable here, switch to two-suit Spider — that is where suit discipline actually matters.
Common questions
Is one-suit Spider still Spider?
Same layout, deal pattern, and win condition. The only change is suit count, which removes the main source of four-suit difficulty.
