Draw-three Klondike uses the same tableau and foundation rules as classic Klondike, but the stock reveals three cards at a time and only the top waste card is playable.
That cuts your options on each pass through the deck and makes unwinnable deals more common — most players find it noticeably harder than draw-one.
How to play Klondike Draw 3
- Tableau and foundations follow standard Klondike: alternating colors down, suit up on foundations, kings in empty columns.
- Stock: each click flips three cards onto the waste pile (or fewer if fewer remain in stock).
- Only the top card of the waste may be played to the tableau or foundations.
- When the stock empties, click the stock area to recycle the waste and continue.
- Win by moving all 52 cards to the foundations.
Strategy tips
- Track the buried waste cards — in draw-three, the two cards under the top waste are locked until you play or recycle.
- Be more conservative sending cards to foundations; a card on a foundation cannot return to help bury a tableau king.
- Recycle the waste only when you have scanned every playable waste card and still need options from deeper in the pile.
- Empty columns are rarer wins in draw-three; do not empty a column unless the incoming king opens a real line.
- If draw-three feels brutal, compare your line on draw-one Klondike — same skills, more stock luck.
Common questions
Is draw-three harder than draw-one?
Yes. You see fewer playable cards per stock pass and cannot access buried waste cards until the top card moves. Win rates are lower even with perfect play.
Can I switch to draw-one on SolitaireFelt?
Yes — open Klondike Solitaire for draw-one, or Daily Klondike for a shared daily draw-one deal.
